What is It?

Plough 1
Plough 2

Photo: May, 2008 at the Bunratty Castle Heritage Centre and Folk Museum.

This plough is amongst a collection of old agricultural inplements; painted and preserved, but not restored. Nor is there any indication as to what they are.
  • Clearly a four furrow plough, very narrow and horse-drawn.
  • The seed box on top, chain driven from the front wheel, drops the seeds down spouts (only the rearmost surviving) into the furrow bottom.
  • For what seeds was it designed?
  • How many horses pulled it?
